June 2021: Chatterbooks Breakfast Café at Oak Tree Primary School
Because everything changes when we read!
Oak Tree's new Chatterbooks Breakfast Café opened for business on Monday 7th June. It will be led by the headteacher, teachers, teaching assistants, office staff - anyone who works at the school and has a passion for reading, which covers just about everyone!
What's it all about?
- It's simply a breakfast story café, where you read and eat!
- It opens daily at 8.10am.
- It takes place in Oak Tree's beautiful school library.
- Breakfast is provided: toast, fruit, drink etc.
- Children share books, reading together and listening to an adult read. On certain days, children have the opportunity to be the 'Designated Storyteller'.
The key theme of Chatterbooks is reading for pleasure. The aim is to inspire children to read different kinds of books, to enjoy reading for its own sake and to develop confidence in talking in groups. They will be encouraged to share their enthusiasm with friends and family.
